How ping works
Ping sends ICMP Echo Request packets to the host and waits for an Echo Reply. The time between request and reply (RTT) shows how fast the server responds, and the number of lost packets shows how stable the link is.
How to read the result
- Under 30 ms — the server is nearby, e.g. in Ukraine or neighboring countries.
- 30–100 ms — typical latency to Western Europe.
- Over 150 ms — another continent or a congested route.
- Packet loss above a few percent indicates a problem with the link — run a traceroute.
The check runs from the MEVCORE data center, so the result shows the connection between our network and the host, not between your computer and the host. To measure your own connection, use the speed test.
