Forward and reverse lookups
Enter a domain name to see the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses it points to, along with any CNAME alias chain. Enter an IP address to get the hostname from its PTR record.
When it’s useful
- You changed an A record and want to make sure the domain already points to the new server.
- You need to find out which hosting a site is on.
- A mail server rejects your emails — check whether your server’s IP has a correct reverse record.
For MX, TXT, SOA and other record types, use the DNS records (dig) tool.
