How an IBAN is structured
IBAN (International Bank Account Number) is the international account number standard ISO 13616. A Ukrainian IBAN always has 29 characters:
- UA — the country code;
- 2 check digits — calculated from the rest of the number using the mod 97 algorithm;
- 6-digit MFO — the bank code;
- 19 characters — the account number, left-padded with zeros.
Why check it
Check digits catch the vast majority of mistakes: a missing or extra digit, or two swapped digits. Check an IBAN before paying an invoice or saving payment details — it saves you from a returned payment. The tool only checks that the number is well-formed, not whether such an account is actually open at the bank.
Bank names are looked up by MFO in the National Bank of Ukraine’s open register. MEVCORE invoices can be paid in your client area.
